Ashes is a well-presented game with a solid level of accuracy. The on-screen graphics are a step up from the other cricket titles on the market, but they don’t live up to the standard set by EA Sports in FIFA and NBA.
Getting up close and personal with the batting is the most enjoyable part of Ashes, and it’s one area where the game really shines. Players are given a wide range of shot options, from simple back and front foot shots to lofted catches and reverse sweeps.
In-game coaching is also pretty strong, with a good hour or so’s worth of tips from Botham and Warne. There are a few glitches here and there that can be frustrating, but otherwise Ashes Cricket 2009 is a decent attempt at bringing the gentleman’s sport to consoles.

Taking advantage of the popularity of T20 cricket, Aussie developer Big Ant Studios have produced an arcade game that focuses on fun over realism. The result is a family-friendly game that combines all the big hitting thrills of T20 cricket with instantly accessible arcade action.
Big Bash Boom is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. It’s fully licensed and includes all teams and players from the KFC Big Bash League (BBL) and Rebel Women’s Big Bash League, making it perfect for the whole family.

Despite a few kinks that can be fixed through patching, Don Bradman Cricket 18 is a solid improvement over the previous title. It’s a competent cricket game and a must-have for any fan of the sport.
